The party aims to reduce the power of the state and the public sector. It believes that the public sector should only be there to secure a minimum standard of living, and that individuals, businesses and organisations should take care of various tasks instead of the public sector, in most cases. The party wants to strongly reduce taxation in Norway, and says that the money Norwegians earn, is theirs to be kept.
