Although Democrats took the presidential vote with pluralities in [[1996 United States presidential election|1996]], [[2008 United States presidential election|2008]], and [[2020 United States presidential election|2020]], no Democrat has carried a majority of the county since [[Lyndon Johnson]] in [[1964 United States presidential election|1964]].
