===Government=== Since Lithuania declared the restoration of its independence on 11 March 1990, it has maintained strong democratic traditions. The court is renewed by a third every three years. The judges are appointed by the Seimas, on the nomination by the President, Chairman of the Seimas, and the Chairman of the Supreme Court. The [[unicameral]] Lithuanian parliament, the [[Seimas]], has 141 members elected to four-year terms - 71 in single-member constituencies, and the others in a nationwide vote by [[proportional representation]].
