In fiction, the station is the London terminus of the [[Hogwarts Express]], which carries [[Harry Potter]] to Hogwarts. In the ''Harry Potter'' films, however, the exterior shots of the station are those of neighbouring St Pancras station. The Goods Yard complex, part of the [[King's Cross Central]] development, was a rail freight terminal. The Yard was designed by [[Lewis Cubitt]] in 1852. The nearby [[Granary Square]] is named after the [[Central Saint Martins|Granary building]].
