He engaged in discussions with several well known Hindu and Buddhist scholars and leaders, including the [[Dalai Lama]].{{efn| The Dalai Lama characterised Krishnamurti as a ''"great soul"'' (Jayakar, "Krishnamurti" p 203). Krishnamurti very much enjoyed the Lama's company and by his own admission could not bring up his anti-guru views, mindful of the Lama's feelings.}} Several of these discussions were later published as chapters in various Krishnamurti books. Krishnamurti was very highly regarded by several leading religious figures in India.
