==Alternative medicine== ===Iridology=== {{main|Iridology}} Iridology (also known as iridodiagnosis) is an [[alternative medicine]] technique whose proponents believe that patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can be examined to determine information about a patient's [[:wikt:systemic|systemic]] health. Practitioners match their observations to "iris charts", which divide the iris into zones corresponding to specific parts of the human body. Iridologists see the eyes as "windows" into the body's state of health.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Novella|first1=Steven|title=Iridology|url=https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/iridology/|website=Science-Based Medicine|access-date=20 August 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170701050230/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/iridology/|archive-date=1 July 2017|url-status=dead}}</ref> Iridology is not supported by quality research studies,<ref name="Ernst">{{cite journal |author=Ernst E |title=Iridology: not useful and potentially harmful |journal=Arch.
