In 1525, the [[Duchy of Prussia]] was established as a [[fief]] of the [[List of Polish monarchs|King of Poland]]. [[Albert, Duke in Prussia|Albert of Prussia]] was the last [[Grand Masters of the Teutonic Knights|Grand Master]] of the [[Teutonic Knights]] and the first Duke of Prussia. He belonged to the Ansbach branch of the dynasty. The Duchy of Prussia adopted Protestantism as the official [[state religion]].
