====Kug-Bau and the Third Dynasty of Kish====
The Third Dynasty of Kish, represented solely by [[Kug-Bau]] or Kubaba, is unique in the fact that she was the only woman named on the king-list to reign as "king". It adds that she had been a tavern keeper before overthrowing the hegemony of Mari and becoming monarch. In later centuries she was worshipped as a minor goddess, particularly at [[Carchemish]], achieving some status in the [[Hurrian]] and [[Hittites]] periods. In the post-Hittite [[Phrygia]]n period she was called Kubele (Latin [[Cybele]]), Great Mother of the Gods.{{Citation needed|date=September 2020}}
