===Political stance===
During the [[2008 London mayoral election]], the newspaper and particularly the correspondent [[Andrew Gilligan]] published articles in support of the [[Conservative Party (UK)|Conservative]] candidate [[Boris Johnson]], including frequent front-page headlines condemning Labour opponent [[Ken Livingstone]]. The Media Reform Coalition (MRC) through its chair Justin Schlosberg and [[Goldsmiths, University of London]] considered that in the [[2016 London mayoral election]], the ''Evening Standard'' favoured the Conservative Party.
