Originally a watering hole on the Old Chisholm Cattle Trail, the park is built around a lake and includes the Dillingham Gardens, picnic pavilions, playground equipment, a performing arts pavilion, and more.<ref name=Buzz>{{cite web|url=https://www.enidbuzz.com/public-parks-playgrounds/ |title=Public Parks & Playgrounds|publisher=Enid Buzz|access-date=July 5, 2020}}</ref> South Government Springs Park contains a sports complex with football fields complete with lights, two softball complexes with lights, and two tennis complexes made up of four lighted courts each.<ref name=Buzz /> The City of Enid maintains 25 additional parks or facilities including two splash pads, a pool, a bike park and a bird sanctuary.<ref name=CityParks>{{cite web|url=https://www.enid.org/services/parks-recreation/city-parks |title=City Parks|publisher=City of Enid|access-date=July 5, 2020}}</ref> The [[Great Salt Plains State Park]], [[Great Salt Plains Lake]], and the [[Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge]] are to the northwest. [[Canton Lake (Oklahoma)|Canton Lake]] is the southwest. [[Sooner Lake]] is to the east.
