== Climate ==
Elefsina has a hot-summer [[Mediterranean climate#Hot-summer Mediterranean climate|Mediterranean climate]] (''Csa''), bordering on a hot [[semi-arid climate]] (''BSh'') for the 1958-2010 period, according to the meteorological station operated by the [[Hellenic National Meteorological Service]]. Elefsina is particularly hot during the summer, with an average July maximum of {{Convert|33.2|C|F}}. According to Kassomenos and Katsoulis (2006), based on 12 years of data (1990–2001), the industrialization of west [[Attica (region)|Attica]], where at least 40% of the industrial activity of the country is concentrated, could be the cause of the warm climate of the zone.<ref>{{cite journal | last1=Kassomenos | first1=P.
