== Parks and recreation == The area around Delta Junction is home to a number of parks. Just north of the city is the [[Quartz Lake State Recreation Area]]. South of the city is the Clearwater State recreation Site, a {{convert|27|acre}} park with a campground and access to the Delta Clearwater River.<ref>[http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/aspunits/northern/clearwatersrs.htm Clearwater SRS] [[Alaska Department of Natural Resources]]</ref> Further south is the Delta State Recreation Site, a {{convert|23|acre}} park directly across from the [[Delta River]]. The park has a campground and is considered a prime spot for wildlife viewing and is adjacent to the calving grounds for the bison herd.<ref>[http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/aspunits/northern/donnellycksrs.htm Donnelly Creek SRS], [[Alaska Department of Natural Resources]]</ref> In the early 1980s, the {{convert|90000|acre|km2|adj=on}} Delta Junction Bison Range, south of the Alaska Highway and between Ft. The herd is now kept at several hundred animals by the annual issuance of hunting permits.
