[[Rafael Trujillo]]'s Dominican government employed a death squad, known as ''la 42'' and led by Miguel Angel Paulino. Paulino would often drive a red [[Packard]] called the Carro de la Muerte (Death Car).<ref>{{cite book |last1=Green |first1=W. John |title=A History of Political Murder in Latin America: Killing the Messengers of Change |date=2015 |page=241}}</ref> During the 12-year regime of [[Joaquín Balaguer]], the ''Frente Democrático Anticomunista y Antiterrorista'', also known as ''La Banda Colorá'', continued the practices of ''la 42''. Balaguer was also known for directing the [[Servicio de Inteligencia Militar|SIM]] to kill Haitians in the [[Parsley massacre]].
