There are long term settlements known as ''baraij'' and short-term settlements known as ''chang''. The coast-dwellers (''aryoto'') have semi-permanent settlements and the interior groups (''eremtaga'') dwell on temporary settlements, which enable them to migrate during dry seasons.<ref name="Cooper"/>
