==Religion== Scott was raised as a [[Presbyterian]] in the Church of Scotland. He was ordained as an elder in [[Duddingston Kirk]] in 1806,<ref name="Duddingston Kirk β Home">{{cite web |title=Duddingston Kirk β History and Buildings |website=Duddingston Kirk β Home |url=http://duddingstonkirk.co.uk/history_and_buildings.html |access-date=27 May 2019}}</ref> and sat in the General Assembly for a time as representative elder of the burgh of Selkirk.
