Obstruction of the [[Lacrimal punctum|punctum]], [[nasolacrimal canal]], or [[nasolacrimal duct]] can cause even normal levels of the basal tear to overflow onto the face ([[epiphora (medicine)|Epiphora]]), giving the appearance of constant psychic tearing.
