In spring 2020, during the [[COVID-19 pandemic in the United States|COVID-19 pandemic]], Switchfoot started working on an EP titled ''Covers'', containing the band's take on songs by [[Frank Ocean]], [[Vampire Weekend]], [[The Chainsmokers]], [[The Verve]], [[Harry Styles]], and [[Jon Bellion]].
