The first Saint Patrick's Day celebrations in Malta took place in the early 20th century by soldiers of the [[Royal Dublin Fusiliers]] who were stationed in [[Floriana]]. Celebrations were held in the Balzunetta area of the town, which contained a number of bars and was located close to the barracks.
