The [[Village]] of Northbrook adopted a [[Council manager|council-manager]] form of [[government]] after a 1953 referendum. The Village President, six-member Board of [[Trustees]], and the Village Clerk, all of whom must be residents of Northbrook, are elected at large for staggered four year terms.
