As of March 23, 2011, there were a total of 9,520 registered voters in Metuchen, of which 4,120 (43.3%) were registered as [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democrats]], 1,528 (16.1%) were registered as [[Republican Party (United States)|Republicans]] and 3,858 (40.5%) were registered as [[Unaffiliated (New Jersey)|Unaffiliated]].
