In 1985, [[Walt Disney Animation Studios|Disney]] released an [[animated film]] based on the first two books of the Prydain series, called ''[[The Black Cauldron (film)|The Black Cauldron]]''. The first Disney animated film to employ computer-generated images, it was a box-office failure and received mixed critical reviews. It was not released for home video until over a decade later.
