Most absolute monarchies are [[Hereditary monarchy|hereditary]], however some, notably the [[Holy See]], are [[Elective monarchy|elected]] by an [[electoral college]] (such as the [[college of cardinals]], or [[prince-elector]]s). Other forms of autocracy include [[tyranny]], [[despotism]], and [[dictatorship]].
