Following the consecration of [[Liverpool Cathedral]], Scott was [[Knight Bachelor|knighted]] by [[George V|King George V]] at [[Knowsley Hall]], where the King and Queen were staying as guests of the [[Edward George Villiers Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby|17th Earl of Derby]].<ref>{{London Gazette |issue=32959 |date=25 July 1924 |page=5637}}</ref>

In 1944 he was appointed a [[Member of the Order of Merit]] (OM) by [[George VI|King George VI]].<ref>{{London Gazette |issue=36544 |date=8 June 1944 |page=2568 |supp=y}}</ref>

On 9 November 2020, the 140th anniversary of Scott's birth, he was honoured with a [[Google Doodle]] depicting his [[red telephone box]]es.
