The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the population of the city in 2011 was 32,036 people, 11,075 households, and 7,187 families residing in the city. The population density was {{convert|995|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 12,357 housing units at an average density of {{convert|387.9|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}. The racial makeup of the city was 57.5% [[White Americans|White]], 7.42% [[African Americans|Black or African American]], 8.63% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]] or [[Alaska Natives|Alaska Native]], 4.21% [[Asian Americans|Asian]], 0.7% [[Pacific Islands Americans|Pacific Islander]]. Of the 11,075 households, 39.9% had children under the age of 18, 47.2% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65&nbsp;years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.15.

The median age of the population was 28&nbsp;years, with 9.6% under the age of 5, 26.0% under the age of 18, 14.7% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65&nbsp;years of age or older. For every 100 females, there were 105.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.2 males.

The median income for a household between 2007 and 2011 was $55,409. Males had a median income of $30,539 versus $26,577 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,814. About 7.4% of families and 10.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.6% of those under age 18 and 7.0% of those age 65 or over.
