In 1982 he served as the first [[Henry Luce]] Visiting Scholar in Humanities and Social Thought at [[Yale University]].<ref name=dss/> He also co-instructed Winter Term (January) courses at [[Eckerd College]], [[St. Petersburg, Florida]].
