The retro-Diels–Alder reaction is used in the industrial production of [[cyclopentadiene]]. Cyclopentadiene is a precursor to various [[norbornene]]s, which are common [[monomer]]s. The Diels–Alder reaction is also employed in the production of [[vitamin B6]].
