== Glucose feeds the TCA cycle via circulating lactate ==
The [[Metabolic pathway|metabolic]] role of [[Lactic acid|lactate]] is well recognized as a fuel for [[Tissue (biology)|tissue]]s, [[mitochondrial disease|mitochondrial cytopathies]] such as DPH Cytopathy, and the scientific field of [[oncology]] ([[Neoplasm|tumor]]s). In the classical [[Cori cycle]], muscles produce lactate which is then taken up by the [[liver]] for [[gluconeogenesis]].
