[[Ivan Reitman]] conceived ''[[Stripes (film)|Stripes]]'' as a Cheech and Chong vehicle. The hyenas Banzai and Shenzi in the 1994 animated film ''[[The Lion King]]'' were storyboarded as being characters modeled after Cheech and Chong.
