===Chemical stability=== Boron nitride is not attacked by the usual acids, but it is soluble in alkaline molten salts and nitrides, such as [[Lithium hydroxide|LiOH]], [[Potassium hydroxide|KOH]], [[Sodium hydroxide|NaOH]]-[[Sodium carbonate|{{chem2|Na2CO3}}]], [[Sodium nitrate|{{chem2|NaNO3}}]], [[Lithium nitride|{{chem2|Li3N}}]], [[Magnesium nitride|{{chem2|Mg3N2}}]], [[Strontium nitride|{{chem2|Sr3N2}}]], [[Barium nitride|{{chem2|Ba3N2}}]] or [[Lithium boron nitride|{{chem2|Li3BN2}}]], which are therefore used to etch BN.<ref name=BN/>
