Once King became the Liberal leader in 1919 he paid closer attention to the [[Canadian Prairies|Prairies]], a fast-developing region. Viewing a sunrise in [[Alberta]] in 1920, he wrote in his diary, "I thought of the New Day, the New Social Order.
