In March 2018, the Namibian government in association with [[PSA Group|French Groupe PSA]] signed an investment agreement to initiate a joint-venture to assemble [[Opel]] and [[Peugeot]] vehicles in Walvis Bay. ''Walvis Bay Salt'' produces approximately 1 million tons of salt per year through solar evaporation of sea water.
