==Apothecary measure==
In the 18th century, the table-spoon became an unofficial unit of the [[apothecaries' system]] of measures, equal to 4&nbsp;drams ({{sfrac|1|2}}&nbsp;fl&nbsp;oz, 14.8&nbsp;&nbsp;mL).
