According to photographer [[William Claxton (photographer)|William Claxton]], McQueen smoked [[marijuana]] almost every day. Biographer Marc Eliot stated that McQueen used a large amount of [[cocaine]] in the early 1970s. He was also a heavy cigarette smoker.
