===First ban===
The first ban on the RSS was imposed in [[Punjab Province (British India)]] on 24 January 1947 by [[Malik Khizar Hayat Tiwana]], the premier of the ruling [[Unionist Party (Punjab)|Unionist Party]], a party that represented the interests of the landed gentry and landlords of Punjab, which included Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs.
