As shown by the emblems of Pius IX and Pius X, painted on the right and left doors, respectively, the carriage was used during various pontificates until the beginning of the twentieth century.]] {{Main |Catechism of Saint Pius X}} In his 1905 letter ''Acerbo nimis'', Pius X mandated the establishment of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (catechism class) in every parish in the world, and he extolled cathetical training as a method of religious teaching.<ref name="Steven M 1997 pp.57-80" />{{sfn|Sarto|1905a}} The ''Catechism of Pius X'' is his realisation of a simple, plain, brief, popular [[catechism]] for uniform use throughout the whole world; it was used in the ecclesiastical province of Rome and for some years in other parts of Italy; it was not, however, prescribed for use throughout the universal Church.{{sfn|Sarto|1905|p=3}} It was issued in 1908 in Italian as ''Catechismo della dottrina Cristiana, Pubblicato per Ordine del Sommo Pontifice San Pio X''.
