As of the [[2020 United States census|2020 census]], there were 47,070 people and 20,754 households in Oro Valley.  The town's population increased by 14.7% between 2010 and 2020. The [[population density]] was 1,154.4 people per square mile. There were 22,346 housing units in Oro Valley. The town's racial makeup was 84.2% [[European American|non-Hispanic White]], 2.3% Black or [[African American]], 0.3% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 3.6% [[Asia]]n, 0.1% [[Pacific Islander]], and 6.6% from two or more races while 15.4% of the population were Hispanic or [[Hispanic and Latino Americans|Latino]] of any race.

The town's population was spread out with 3.3% under the age of 5, 14.6% from the age of 5 to 17, 52.5% from the age of 18 to 64, and 34.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 54 years with 48% male and 52% female.
