Mithridates II is viewed favourably by both ancient and modern historians, who consider him one of the greatest and successful Parthian monarchs to ever rule.<ref>{{harvnb|Olbrycht|2010|p=152}}; {{harvnb|Kia|2016|p=185}}</ref> Justin says the following about him;

He fought successfully, too, several times, against the Scythians, and avenged the injuries received from them by his forefathers."
