==Education==
The community is served by [[Sylvan–Lucas USD 299]] public school district. Prior to 2010, it was served by [[Russell County USD 407]].

Lucas High School served the community until 1977. Lucas and [[Luray, Kansas|Luray]] schools then united forming Lucas-Luray schools. In 2010, Lucas-Luray was united with Sylvan Unified schools to form Sylvan-Lucas Unified.<ref>{{cite web | title = Kansas K-12 Reports | publisher = Kansas State Department of Education | url =  http://uapps.ksde.org/k12/organization.aspx?org_no=D0407 | accessdate = 30 December 2016 }}</ref> The district operates one school in the city:  Lucas-Sylvan Unified Elementary School ([[Education in the United States#School grades|Grades]] K-6). The Lucas High School mascot was Lucas Demons.<ref>"Lucas Demons to BB State", The Salina Journal, 8 March 1964, p.15.</ref> Lucas-Luray High School mascot was Lucas-Luray Cougars.
