==Family==
Ivan Kalita was married twice. His first wife was called {{ill|Elena (wife of Ivan I of Moscow)|ru|Елена (жена Ивана Калиты)|lt=Elena}}, and nothing is known exactly about her origin.{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=102}} There is a hypothesis that she was the daughter of {{ill|Alexander Glebovich|ru|Александр Глебович}}, the prince of [[Smolensk]].{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=102}} Elena died on 1 March 1331.{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=213}}

A year later, Ivan married again, although all that is known about his second wife is that her name was Ulyana.{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=218}} Vladimir Kuchkin suggests they had two daughters: Maria and Theodosia.{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=219}} They appear in Ivan's will as the "young children".{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=219}} One of them was alive in 1359; nothing more is known about the other.{{sfn|Borisov|1995|page=219}}

He had eight children:
