* Francesco Borromini was featured on Banknotes of the Swiss franc. He appears on the obverse of the [[Banknotes of the Swiss franc|sixth series 100 Swiss Franc banknote]], which was in circulation from 1976 until 2000.<ref>{{cite web| url = https://www.snb.ch/en/iabout/cash/history/id/cash_history_serie6#t7| title = Sixth banknote series, 1984}}</ref> This decision at that time caused polemics in Switzerland, started by the Swiss-Italian art historian [[Piero Bianconi]].
