=== The Atrium (light well) === [[File:Light well - Casa Batlló - Barcelona 2014.jpg|thumb|Atrium (light well)]] The Atrium or the light well is in the central part of the house and delivers air and lighting to all corners of the house. Gaudí had an obsession with light and how it reflected off certain surfaces. The wall of the atrium has different tones of blue as well as a diamond textile pattern all around the walls. The blue tiles allow an equal distribution of light to all the floors. The well has windows with wooden splits to allow them to be open and closed for ventilation.<ref>{{Cite web |title=The interior |url=https://www.casabatllo.es/en/antoni-gaudi/casa-batllo/inside/ |access-date=2023-12-02 |website=Casa Batlló |language=en}}</ref> Gaudí wanted to make the bottom of the well feel like the bottom of the sea. The skylight allows light to come in and reflect off the ceramic tiles into the windows to naturally illuminate the house.<ref>{{Cite journal |last=Hinojosa |first=Sebastián |date=June 2018 |title=The light well as element of luminous control inside the architectural spaces, case of study: Batlló House |url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/327143572 |journal=ESTOA |pages=9}}</ref> The blue tiles are more intensely colored at the top and get opaquer towards the bottom. The diamond textiles match the rest of the house's use of different, functional shapes.<ref>{{Cite web |url=https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000183745.locale=en | title=Casa Batlló: a dialogue with light, colour and freedom | work=[[UNESCO]] | year=2009}}</ref>
