In an October 2020 interview with Fox 17 News, Sheriff Dar Leaf stated that the individuals charged in a plot to kidnap Governor [[Gretchen Whitmer]] may have been attempting to effectuate a lawful arrest on Whitmer as opposed to a kidnapping.
