==History==
J. H. Van Vlissingen originally intended on developing the area in 1883, however nothing came of it. In 1899 the Winthrop Harbor and Dock Company purchased over 2,000 acres just south of the state line of [[Wisconsin]].

In 1871 a post office was built on Sheridan Road named Spring Bluff. Not only did this spur an increase in population in the area, but it would inspire the name of the Spring Bluff Forest Preserve. Despite the intention of the settlement to be an industrial district, the village remained mainly residential until 1989 when the North Point Marina was constructed.<ref>{{cite web |title=About North Point Marina SRA |url=https://dnr.illinois.gov/parks/about/park.northpointmarina.html |website=Illinois.gov |publisher=Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Sites |access-date=December 7, 2024}}</ref> Until the modern day the marina is considered the pride and soul of village.
