==Background==
Anderson was born in [[Saint Paul, Minnesota]], in 1933. He attended Saint Paul's [[Johnson Senior High School (St. Paul, Minnesota)|Johnson High School]] and the [[University of Minnesota]], where he received a [[Bachelor of Arts|B.A.]] in 1954. He earned a law degree from the [[University of Minnesota Law School]] in 1960.
