== Family ==
Tyro was the daughter of King [[Salmoneus]] of [[Ancient Elis|Elis]] and [[Alcidice]], daughter of King [[Aleus]] of [[Arcadia (region)|Arcadia]]. She married her uncle King [[Cretheus]] of Iolcus but loved the [[River gods (Greek mythology)|river-god]] [[Enipeus (deity)|Enipeus]].
