==History== The community was once known as Sandy, after the nearby [[Sandy River (Oregon)|Sandy River]]; the post office in Sandy was established in 1854 and closed in 1868.<ref name=OGN>{{Cite OGN|7th|pages=846, 970}}</ref> In 1873, the current city of [[Sandy, Oregon|Sandy]] in [[Clackamas County, Oregon|Clackamas County]], which was formerly named "Revenue", established a different Sandy post office that is still in operation.<ref name=OGN/> Troutdale was named by pioneer John Harlow for the [[trout]] pond in a dale near his house.<ref name=OGN/> Troutdale post office was founded in 1880.<ref name=OGN/> In 1925, a company, the [[Bissinger Wool Pullery]], was moved from Sellwood, Oregon, and opened for business on Macadam Road along the west bank of the Sandy River.<ref>{{cite web |url= https://archives.pdx.edu/archon/?p=collections/findingaid&id=130&q|title=Oregon Jewish Businesses, 1840-2012 |last=Howard |first=Dorothy |website= PSU Library special Collections and University Archives |publisher=Portland State University |access-date=September 17, 2019 }}</ref><ref>{{cite news |last=Sparling |first=Zane |date=July 22, 2017 |title=Troutdale Waterfront Redevelopment Project Collapses |url= https://www.opb.org/news/article/troutdale-sandy-river-waterfront-development-eastwinds-fail/ |work=OPB TV |access-date=September 17, 2019}}</ref> An iconic water tower stands nearby.
