==Geography== According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the county has a total area of {{convert|488|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|479|sqmi}} is land and {{convert|8.9|sqmi}} (1.8%) is water.<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> Most of the western portion of Tattnall County, defined by a line running from [[Cobbtown, Georgia|Cobbtown]] south to [[Collins, Georgia|Collins]], then east to a point halfway to [[Bellville, Georgia|Bellville]], and then south and southwest to the middle of the county's southern border, is located in the [[Ohoopee River]] sub-basin of the [[Altamaha River]] basin. The northeastern portion of the county, from Cobbtown to east of [[Reidsville, Georgia|Reidsville]], is located in the [[Canoochee River]] sub-basin of the [[Ogeechee River]] basin.
