In their manifesto "Symbionese Liberation Army Declaration of Revolutionary War & the Symbionese Program", co-founders [[Donald DeFreeze]] and [[Patricia Soltysik|Patricia "Mizmoon" Soltysik]] wrote:

They intended the political symbiosis to encompass the unity of all left-wing struggles: feminist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, and others. The group adopted a seven-headed SLA [[Lernaean Hydra|hydra]]-like [[cobra]] symbol, using it as a logo.
