== Geography ==

Located within the district are the port of [[Big Creek, Belize|Big Creek]] (the main port of Belize's [[banana]] industry), the peninsula and village of [[Placencia]] (a popular [[tourism|tourist]] destination), the villages of [[Santa Cruz, Stann Creek|Santa Cruz]], [[Alta Vista, Belize|Alta Vista]], [[Georgetown, Belize|Georgetown]], [[Independence and Mango Creek|Independence]], [[Kendal, Belize|Kendal]], [[Maya Mopan]], [[Middlesex, Belize|Middlesex]], [[Mullins River]], [[Pomona, Belize|Pomona]], [[Red Bank, Belize|Red Bank]], [[Sarawee]], [[Silk Grass, Belize|Silk Grass]], [[San Roman, Stann Creek|San Roman]], [[Sittee River]] and the [[Garifuna people|Garifuna]] village of [[Hopkins, Belize|Hopkins]].

The district is split into two [[Constituencies of Belize|constituencies]]. They are [[Dangriga (Belize House constituency)|Dangriga]], which contains the town proper and two villages (including Hope Creek and Sarawee) and the offshore islands (cayes), and [[Stann Creek West]], which contains most of the remaining villages including [[Santa Cruz, Stann Creek|Santa Cruz]], [[Placencia]] and [[Independence and Mango Creek|Independence]].

The district is served by the [[Hummingbird Highway]] and the [[Southern Highway (Belize)|Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway]], connecting to [[Belize City]] by way of the [[George Price Highway]] at [[Belmopan]].
