== Etymology ==
The general consensus (also recognized by the city's own website<ref name="mus" />) is that the name "Sochi" ({{langx|ru|Сочи}}) is the Russified form of the [[Circassian languages|Circassian]] "Ş̂açə" ({{langx|ady|Шъачэ}}) which in turn is of [[Ubykh language|Ubykh-Circassian]] origin, coming from the Ubykh name "Ş̂uaça" ({{langx|uby|Шъуача}}).<ref>Mi, Ali.
